My exhaustion is near complete.  We realized neither was sleeping last night at 3:00 am.  No social media, no news, but the gnawing of a near defeat. 

I love a good challenge.  Today’s prompt is astonish.

He never fails to astonish me. Nor do they. It seems the more he lies, the more he courts the radicals and bigots, the more they flock to him. How do the seemingly normal ones sleep at night? Life forever changed.  No action, other than for perverse self aggrandizing. May we all wake to a better tomorrow.

I thought it was the neighbor’s cat back
to clean the clock of the fledgling robins low
in their nest stuck in the dense hedge by the house
but what came was much stranger, a liquidity
moving all muscle and bristle. A groundhog
slippery and waddle thieving my tomatoes still
green in the morning’s shade. I watched her
munch and stand on her haunches taking such
pleasure in the watery bites. Why am I not allowed
delight? A stranger writes to request my thoughts
on suffering. Barbed wire pulled out of the mouth,
as if demanding that I kneel to the trap of coiled
spikes used in warfare and fencing. Instead,
I watch the groundhog closer and a sound escapes
me, a small spasm of joy I did not imagine
when I woke. She is a funny creature and earnest,
and she is doing what she can to survive.

There will always be too much to do – and this realisation is liberating. Best thing I’ve read in a while about ‘life lessons’ from The Guardian.

The FDA posted a press release re: some companies have put hand sanitizer in juice pouches, beer cans, etc.  Don’t drink hand sanitizer.  

Well … this wasn’t the best work day, but thankfully I had the debacle of the Bruins game to watch to make it so much more … crap :)

Eric Topol just pointed out that the head of the FDA has no credibility!  (And he points to a really interesting paper about SARS-CoV-2 vaccines).
